Always something to pull over and stop for. :)
I captured several cool photos of the vultures, so they will be featured in their own post.

St. Mary's Peak obscured in the rain clouds behind the pond and barn. The colors in this photo caught my eye after leaving the refuge. Always something to pull over and stop for. :) As we took the backroads home, we stopped to watch and photograph a flock of turkey vultures. While doing so, this bald eagle flew overhead and landed off in the field.

We've been in the midst of a very rainy, stormy weather pattern lately, with a few little glimpses of sunshine here and there in between. After a pretty good thunderstorm last night and continuing heavy rain and clouds today, we had some sunshine move in over the mountains for a bit. As I drove the backroads home from work tonight, heavy rain clouds were once again moving in. I couldn't resist stopping for a few pics along the way. :) Here comes the rain. Again. I must say that wild turkeys have such strange looking heads!! But they are rather interesting to watch, and to hear gobble. :) Yesterday's nature moment. :) ------------------------ I'd love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a comment and hit the like button below. :) We got a chance to see some more elk on our way home from a hike the other day. This group was quite a bit smaller than the herd we saw a month ago (still need to sort pics for that blog post), but they are always interesting to stop and watch for a bit. :) Another walk on the backroads a few nights ago, stopping for pics along the way. :) Bitterroot Mountains with one of our neighborhood horses. (Bass Creek Crags on the left, Little Saint Joe on the right.) A little evening color over the Sapphire Mountains.
Nothing unusual or dramatic today, just an ordinary early spring walk on Montana's backroads with a little sunshine, wind, and nice views. :) The Bass Creek Crags can be seen in the distance from here, while a rustic barbwire fence borders a cattle ranch in the foreground. I'm hoping to make it up to the Bass Creek Crags this year. :) I'm definitely looking forward to hiking to the top of Little St. Joe again this year.
Such amazing views from up there ... definitely worth the effort! :) While our current weather forecast predicts winter returning for a bit this coming weekend, signs of spring are upon us. Horses and ants are active, buttercups are blooming, trees are budding, robins and butterflies have made an appearance, and geese have returned to our pond. :) We also got out for our first "spring" hike of the year today. Pics to come soon...
There's always some kind of beauty to behold on our backroad walks. Welcome to my "neighborhood". :) |
