Tin Cup Creek - Bitterroot Mountains
10 Mile Day Hike - Late August 2021

Picture
This little guy provided a bit of entertainment on our way in through the lower forest.
Picture
The lichen draping from the trees never ceases to interest me.
Picture
We crossed the creek about three miles in. (This crossing becomes quite dangerous during high water season.)
Picture
We discovered some nice rock areas on the other side of the creek. Awesome places to wander and hang out!
Picture
Rock and water ... one of my favorite mountain combos! :)
Picture
I enjoy sharing my mountain adventures with family and friends. My girls are my most frequent hiking buddies. :)
Picture
The sights and sounds of flowing mountain water can be quite mesmerizing.
Picture
Almost to our destination for the day, at an old rock slide where the view really opens up for a bit.
Picture
Yes! Getting up high for open mountain views ... another one of my favorite things!! :)
Picture
Too close to get a panoramic shot of it all. This is looking back the way we just came from.
Picture
Looking directly across, we can see a pretty distinct avalanche path on this mountain.
Picture
Looking further up the canyon. The midday sun is bleaching our views a bit, but they are still awesome!
Picture
Stopping by the water on the way back. So peaceful and relaxing! (Except for the hornets flying around us.)
Picture
Such beautiful color! (I find joy in the many little things nature has to offer.)
Picture
Crossing the creek again. I stopped on some rocks part way to give my feet a break from the frigid water.
Picture
The water is shallow and slow, but the rocks are a bit tricky to walk on, taking longer to get across the icy stream.
Picture
This little bunny "hid" from us next to the trail, keeping so incredibly still except for the twitching of its nose!
Picture
My final photo from this hike. More beauty in the simple things. :)

Beautiful beargrass with lovely lupine in the background.

Tin Cup - June 2020.

After our picnic lunch up Lost Horse on a beautiful day earlier this month, we headed further south to enjoy an afternoon hike up Tin Cup Creek.

In addition to enjoying the abundance of wildflowers along the way, we also watched some small wildlife and heard and saw a tree fall not very far away from us! Like I often say ... you just never know what you will come across in the mountains. Always be prepared for anything and everything out here! :)

A tree falls nearby!

A wonderful day for a hike in the mountains.

Chipmunks tend to keep themselves plenty busy in the woods. -- Lots of lupine everywhere!

Beauty greets us all along the trail.

Bunchberry dogwood flowers are elegantly beautiful.

It seems I'm not the only one attracted to red clover.

False Solomon's-seal leaves and flowers contrast in size.

The flowers of mountain-ash and its orange berries later on are both a beautiful sight to see.
