Oh, how I love the mountains!

And when I'm wanting to get out to enjoy a sunny day in late fall, Goat Mountain comes to mind.

Goat Mountain sits between Ward Mountain to the south and Downing Mountain to the north, as part of the ridge between Roaring Lion and Sawtooth Canyons.

Although the trail is relatively short, it is quite steep. A great way to get in some cardio!

We love taking time to explore off-trail rock outcrops to hang out a bit while enjoying sunshine and views. :)

So that's what Ward Mountain looks like! I was just reading up on Ward and Goat Mountains in the "Goat" book ("Hiking the Bitterroots"). If it's as steep as you say, I may not make it up there (but you never know!), so thanks for all the beautiful pictures, Nikki, in case I don't ever do that hike. I have to say, though, that your photos are certainly very motivating to make the attempt!

Thanks, Dana! I'm happy to hear that my photos are motivating for you. Don't set limits on yourself. When you want to do something that feels out of reach, work your way towards it and give it a try. Maybe you can go part way for a start? Don't be afraid to push yourself. :)
