today is a new day ... what will you do with it?

Yesterday -- today -- tomorrow ... they all play a special role in our journey to reach our goals in life.

We can learn from our past when we evaluate the road we've traveled so far and where it has taken us. We can examine what has worked, what hasn't, and why or why not. Where we've gotten stuck, hit potholes, or drifted off the road and crashed. Learning from our past helps us move forward.

Planning for the future gets us back on track or gives us a new direction. We see the big picture and know where we are wanting to go. It may be a long journey with many obstacles and detours along the way, but if we don't run out of gas, (or we refill when we do), we will eventually get there.

But ...

Each and every day is where the rubber meets the road. It's where we have the choice to stay right where we are, backtrack to where we've been, or move forward towards our desired destination.

It's the distance we go each and every day that gets us somewhere. Some days the traveling is easy and we cover a lot of ground. Some days we might get bogged down in a storm and make no progress at all. Most days are somewhere in between, with the miles adding up eventually if we just keep driving in the right direction.

But days can go by without going anywhere if we don't get in the car and go. And days have a way of turning into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. We are either logging miles toward our goals, a little here and a little there, or we are sitting in the car without even starting the engine. Each day we decide if we are gonna drive.

So ...

To make that great change you want in your life, start looking at each day as an opportunity for change in some small way. In the busyness of daily life, what small thing can you do toward your goal today? If you don't give up, every little bit does adds up.

Today is a new day ... what will you do with it?
