Mighty rushing water. Blooming wildflowers. The setting sun.
A wonderful combination for an evening hike up Kootenai Canyon earlier this month.
Oh, how I love the mountains any time of year!! :)

Picture
I find water spilling over rocks to be peacefully mesmerizing.
What simple joys can be found "out here"! :)

I love the motion of flowing water and the contrasting action when it hits the rocks.

A beautiful spot along the creek, with the rocky backdrop and evening sunshine.

The setting sun definitely adds an extra dimension to evening hikes in Kootenai.

But you gotta keep an eye on the trail when you hit the rocky portions if you don't want to take an unexpected nosedive!
Picture
The trail follows quite close to the creek at times,
providing an amazing experience of the sights and sounds of rushing water.

Kootenai Creek is full of rocks, causing the water to tumble and spray magnificently!

The lovely glacier lilies are always a beautiful sight shortly after the snow melts. You see them blooming at different elevations at different times as they follow the snowline up the mountain.

Water, rocks, water and rocks ...

... if you know me at all, you know I'm gonna stop to enjoy it along the way. :)

(And take a few photos, of course!)

I tend to find beauty and joy in the simplest things. Like tree roots stretching out into the water. There's always something to catch my attention and the snap of my camera shutter. It sometimes amazes me that I'm able to get in any hiking time! LOL!! :)

I hope you enjoyed coming along on another adventure up Kootenai. If so, be sure to hit the "like" button and leave me a comment. I value your thoughts and communication. :)

Nikki, what a treat! Thanks for these photos of my all-time favorite hiking trail—favorite because of all the reasons you describe: water, rocks, water and rocks, creek near the trail . . . !
All the photos are gorgeous, but that first one is especially captivating. I think you should make that one into a large framed print, and greeting cards, too, for sure!

Thanks, Dana. Glad you enjoyed the pics. It truly is a wonderful place! We'll have to get out there together again sometime. :)
