"The mountains are calling, and I must go."

We went up Kootenai for a several hour hike a couple of days ago, and it was our first hike this year that actually felt like spring.

We woke up to another dusting of snow this morning, and according to the weather forecast, winter will be appearing again this weekend with colder temps, but it was nice to enjoy a little sunshine and relative warmth in the mountains for a few hours. :)

A gorgeous place on the hillside to enjoy a little break with views and sunshine!

We enjoyed a longer break up and away from the trail at our turnaround point.
More views and sunshine. What a wonderful day for a hike in the mountains!

Good times in the mountains!
It's always hard to leave to go back, but time was up and supper was calling.

As the afternoon turned into evening on our way out, the sun slipped behind the southern canyon wall. The dramatic contrast of the resulting shade below against the sun shining onto the northern canyon wall up high is always a sight to behold. :)

See you in the next post. Enjoy! :)

Awww... I don't mean to make you feel like you're missing out, Dana... but I do like to inspire/remind you to carve out more time for hiking. We'll get out for your birthday hike soon. :)
