In case you're wondering...

11/28/2014

... if I fell off the edge of the earth... I haven't been posting much lately, due to the fact I've just been extra busy with Thanksgiving and getting ready for local shows. I'm still around to take care of sales and shipping out orders, but my blog posting is taking the backburner for a bit. I'll try to post a little something here and there, but once my local shows are over, I'll be back to regular posting once again. I will also be back to listing new items in my shop after the shows are done. See you again soon...

Blue and white are such wonderful colors for winter, and this table runner featuring a scene of birds and trees is especially fitting for the season.

Tis the season for snowflakes...

We've been having snowflakes in the air, we currently have snowflakes on the ground, and I'm sure we've got many more snowflakes yet to come.

But these handmade lace snowflakes would look especially fabulous hanging in the windows all winter long!

Searching for an old cabin on Little Saint Joe.

11/18/2014

This original post was dated 9/3/2014 on another blog. See note below post for more info.

Summer is over and fall is now here in our neck of the woods of Western Montana.

Which is, of course, the perfect season for hiking! :)

I went for another hike up Little Saint Joe the other day with my younger girls and adult son. This time we weren't going to the top, but rather heading out in search of an old cabin built by the Rocky Mountaineers for winter use by backcountry skiers and snowboarders.

It was a gorgeous day to be out, and we enjoyed it tremendously!

We hiked ...

... we picked huckleberries ...

... we relaxed by a fire ...

... we admired the views from numerous rock outcroppings ...

... we snacked by a small mountain stream ...

... we hiked before, after, and in between all of that ...

... and we found the cabin.

Mission accomplished. We found the old cabin on Little Saint Joe.

Note: As some of you may recognize, this is a post from a discontinued blog I started earlier this year before deciding to consolidate into one blog. Since some people really liked it, I thought I'd re-post it on this blog for others that may be interested in it as well. It was originally posted on 9/3/2014 here.
I wish I could bring over the wonderful comments I received over there. Anyway... hope you enjoy the post, and I'll work on more hiking posts when I get time (including my first hike up Little Saint Joe when we went to the top). I'd love for you to share your comments with me, as I do enjoy reading them. :)

Two beautiful handmade scarves in Willow Dappled.

Willow Dappled is a thin lightweight yarn in lovely colorways.

I crocheted these scarves with two strands of yarn for a wonderful color effect and extra warmth.

I added a button and button loop to each, making them a cross between a regular scarf and an infinity scarf.

Both of these lovely scarves are available for purchase in my shop:

Blue Bayou
and
Dappled Autumn

Or if you would like to make this scarf, you can purchase my crochet pattern in my Ravelry shop.

... or snuggling up with at the cabin. Enjoy the beauty and warmth of this handmade shawl wherever you happen to be. Hand knit with a wool blend for warmth and durability, and thin enough for use in the fall. The earthy colors are perfect for serenity and peace in the woods or at the cabin... or whenever you need a break from the excitement and pop of bolder colors. Shawl stick is included; you can wear it with or without. For more photos and details ---> Comfy Cozy Cabin Shawl.

Gourd art by local Bitterroot Valley artisan.

Today I've decided to feature another fabulous artisan in my local area... D.K. Wilson of Visions in Wood. I have seen her work at local shows, and I can personally testify that she makes amazing pieces of gourd art. Each piece is unique and has its own character. You can visit her website to see more of her work (made in Victor, Montana), or if you are in the Missoula / Bitterroot Valley area, you can stop by and see D.K. and her gourds in person at the Montana Art Festival, Nov. 28th-30th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula.

Pumpkin Trivets for Fall or Thanksgiving

11/14/2014

Picture
Well, it sure doesn't seem much like fall anymore where I live (it's still well below freezing and currently snowing), but Thanksgiving hasn't arrived yet, so I thought I'd share these wonderful pumpkin trivets I discovered on Etsy.

I especially like the openwork, the choice of colors, and the distressed look of these trivets.
